我來這個會，是紀念Bernd Fischer的，一個偉大的數學家，於是有年長教授演講讚美他，分享他們與Fischer的來往軼事，主要當然是要說學術生涯得到了來自Fischer多少支持。
組織會議者是一位女教授，她邀請了Fischer的家人，買了鮮花送給Frau Fischer。這才有了一個人說：前面有人提到在Fischer家的燒烤會（說他經常請conference的與會者和他的學生到家裡搞BBQ）的美好時光，那些聊天都充滿啟發，但這樣的環境絕對不是Bernd一人創造的。包括另一位數學家說，有一回跟Fischer幾個好朋友夜聊，Fischer說這是他半年來第二個day off，前一個還是聖誕。可以想像，他妻子為家裡一定鞍前馬後操碎了心。
會議結束的時候，組織會議的女教授說大家先別走，又拿出了一束鮮花，她說要感謝她的秘書。說實話這也是我參加了這麼多會議，雖然有時候也會感謝助手感謝贊助商，但第一次看見送了花的認真感謝。我想如果是全男教授組織的話，這一切都不會發生。
喔這位女教授，柏林人，卻一直找不到教職，直到44歲才終於有了professorship。我說是因為柏林競爭很嚴重喔，同儕說是因為她有很多要考慮的事情，比如婚姻比如家庭。我覺得我對此已經不需要再多說了反正就是深深皺眉嘆氣。
不過還是感覺到，因為這些傑出的女性數學家們沒有放棄，這個領域的現狀還是有在她們的努力下漸漸改善的。
